Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all HoundDogs players, families and club supporters . We hope to see you soon.
We would like to wish all players, parents, coaches, committee members and supporters a very merry Christmas and hope they all have a fantastic prosperous New Year.
Just a reminder that we our U17’s Contact team return to training on Saturday January 27th at Eastbourne Sports Park.
More details will follow soon on when the Flag teams return to training.
This week, the Hound Dogs Committee found out that they have been approved a grant of £9830 from Sport England’s Small Grants Scheme to enable the team to buy helmet and pads for a new Youth Kitted Football Team. This will be for boys and girls aged between 14 and 17 years of age. The grant will also enable the team to but match day equipment and jerseys. Recently the club ran a vote to select the design the for our new playing jerseys. Below is the winning design that the team will wear
Training is due to begin back in February 2017, by which time the Committee are hoping that the the kit will be available to start to rent out to players.
Luke Boorer, Club Chairman added “This is one of our main aims that we had when we set the club up back in June. This grant will enable our club, and its players the chance to play kitted football on a competitive stage. I would like to thanks the Committee for its hard work in achieving this grant bid from Sport England. This is the first of a series of bids that we have put in, with different organisations. We have set out a programme that will also utilise our School Friendly Games status, in delivering and working with local schools, to offer a programme of Flag Football”.
We are looking to recruit more players to the club to participate in both flag and kitted football training as the team looks to play in the SEYAF leagues in 2017. So if you are interested, please contact us.
Today we received confirmation that we have been approved as a “School Games Friendly” Club.
The Hound Dogs are working with the sports National Governing Body, BAFA.
BAFA is rolling-out a new ‘School Games Friendly’ logo scheme to ‘signpost’ where students, teachers, schools, School Games Organisers, YST Development Officers and other partners can easily find help and advice with School Games activities and competitions.
This is a benign ‘opt-in’ scheme for clubs and another mechanism to encourage grass-roots growth of the sport.
Hellingly Hound dogs are looking for local schools to team up with, to bring the sport of Flag Football to local children. . If you work at our represent a school in Eastbourne, Hailsham, Heathfield and are part of the School Games programme, please contact us. We have coaches willing to give up time to help.
