Sunday the 16^th of June saw the HoundDogs U19’s

team up with the Mavericks and Phoenix to form the SE Legion again as this week saw the rookie outfit travel to the Home of Wembley Stallions.

On arrival the heaven decided to open with an extremely heavy shower that lasted about an hour, but with an hour till kick off and the sun poking through the clouds, both of the teams emerged from the changing rooms to get ready for the game.

The 1^st half was dominated by Wembley as the

Legion struggled on offence. However, the Defence were looking in the mood to play and regularly stopped the Stallions offence even though the offence failed to give them much time off the field as they regularly were forced to punt after gaining very little ground. The end of the half was approaching as one of the Legion’s best plays started to make ground only for the Legion player to suffer from an injury which required Hospital treatment which also lead to a very long pause to the game due to waiting for the medical cover to return.

The Stallions went into the second half 20-0 up.

The defence carried on where they left off and finished the game picking off the Stallions QB a couple of times as well as sacking him numerous times throughout the second half. Even the Offence started to get some plays together which resulted in a few 1^st down but they never managed to cross the Stallions line and get points on the board. The final whistle blew with the score finishing Stallions 26- 0 Legion.

Coach, Luke Boorer added “Not the greatest day at the office for us. On offence we never really got going. We made some really silly mistakes which resulted in us failing to gain yards. We were a few players down due to one reason and another, but those there, played hard and never gave up. Defence looked good but my biggest worry is that is the second game on the trot we have failed to score. We will sit down look over what went wrong and try to fix these issues. However, I am not too disappointed. We have a very young squad, who in the next two years will develop into some fantastic talent.”

The ‘Best of Eastbourne’ MVP Awards go to

Defence MVP – Clayton Jarvis. Fought hard on the line all game.

Offence MVP – George Davies. One of the few players on offence to gain reasonable yardage for the team.

Special Team MVP- Danny Townsend – Made several good blocks to try and make room for the ball carrier.
